International Students' Day Cards

Commemorates the student resistance and repression under Nazi occupation in Czechoslovakia in 1939. On 17 November 1939 student demonstrators in Prague were met with lethal force (student Jan Opletal was fatally wounded earlier in protests), their funeral turned into a mass antiโ€‘occupation demonstration, and Nazi authorities subsequently closed Czech universities, executed student leaders and deported many students to concentration camps. In 1941 the International Students' Council in London designated 17 November as International Students' Day to honor those victims and to promote student solidarity, human rights, democracy and student activism worldwide.
