Boxing Day Cards
Observed on 26 December in the United Kingdom and many Commonwealth countries, Boxing Day originated from the historical practice of gift-giving to servants and the poor β employers gave 'Christmas boxes' to domestic staff who had to work on Christmas Day, and churches opened alms boxes to distribute charity. Over time it became a public holiday associated with charitable giving, sporting events (notably football and horse racing), shopping sales, and family time. The exact origins are debated and it is sometimes linked or conflated with St. Stephen's Day, but its cultural significance centers on post-Christmas redistribution and leisure.
